Charlotte Christine Jones birth story

Jonathan got a stomach bug on August 13, which he gave to me, just in time to have it to celebrate Warren's and my 3rd anniversary. That was fun. So I had stomach cramps all day, which turned into contractions that night. Unfortunately I was only 36 weeks and 3 days along, so we wanted to keep her in just a little longer. I ended up in the hospital over night for fluids and to be monitored. I was already at 4 cm and 75%. The contractions stopped and I was put on bed rest and sent home. I behaved pretty well for being on bed rest, but was still having contractions a few times a day.
Saturday night, going into Sunday, I woke up frequently through the night to use the restroom, and just uncomfortable. I woke up finally at 7:00 A.M. and then woke Warren up to finish writing the talk he was supposed to give in church that day. By 7:30 my contractions had started up and were already pretty painful. I struggled to keep a calm face for Jonathan, because he is very aware of others' emotions. Though I think he could still tell something was up, because he came and snuggled with me for a while to try to make me feel better.
I was ready to go to the hospital by 8:00, but Warren wanted to wait a little bit to see if they'd pick up, or die down. So I sat and tried to continue to keep it all under control until around 9 when I couldn't handle it anymore. We dropped Jonathan off at Sara's and then went to the hospital. We got there around 9:30, and after stopping for 2 or 3 contractions on the way into the hospital, we finally made it in, and waited to be put in the computer.
The nurse checked me and I was at a 5, 100%, and had a "bulging bag". Sorry if that's tmi. So I waited maybe 15 more minutes and wanted my epidural. The nurse was called out because another lady was bleeding and the doctor couldn't get the placenta, so they needed everyone in there. I ended up waiting until at least 11:30 for my epidural, and with all the contractions, it took a while to get in. probably close to 11:45.
The epidural had close to a half hour to kick in. Which it had time to take the edge off the contractions, but not much else. I could feel the need to push and had to be reminded over and over not to push yet, and that I had to wait for Dr. Oldroyd. Luckily he was fast and I was able to start pushing around 12:15, and had my beautiful girl at 12:32.
With everything I felt (basically everything) the nurse said I had basically had a natural childbirth. Maybe if next time is as fast, we will just skip the epidural all together.
Warren was an excellent labor coach and was able to keep me either laughing or smiling between contractions up until it was time to push, as well as the nurse and anesthesiologist. Warren did have to leave during the epidural, but I prefer that to him passing out.
Charlotte was born at 6 lbs 11 oz and 18.5 inches long, and just as sweet as can be. Being born at 36 and 6 she was supposed to spend 12 hours in the NICU, but the neonatologist came and looked her over and she was healthy enough to stay with us which was great. It let Jonathan meet her, and he absolutely loves her. He is still learning to be soft, but he is doing so great with her.

Jonathan Crawford Jones

So I am terrible at blogging, keeping a journal, and all the like, but here I am trying again. My last post was over a year ago, and what I really wanted to add on that was that on August 13 the day we went out to celebrate, we found out we were pregnant!
On September 9(?) we had our first midwife appointment and got to see our cute little baby, and found out that I was due on April 19 or 20, 2012. I was excited and terrified all at once. Everything continued to go well. I loved being Pregnant! On December 1, 2011 our baby was not shy and let us know we would be having a boy! So we thought and thought, but couldn't agree on a name. And again everything was going well. We had one scare where we (I) thought he would be coming early around 30 weeks and we ended up getting an ultrasound to have that checked out, it showed that he wasn't coming yet, but that he was head down and low. That is where he sat for the last 7 and a half weeks before he was born.
At our 37 week check up I was checked and was at a 3 and 70 percent. And I had a few contractions that night. So I had contraction for 3 hours a day, Friday and Saturday. Then nothing all day Sunday. I was pretty disappointed.
Monday morning I had a hard time sleeping because I was having some contractions, also I was bleeding a little.I woke up around 5 AM and decided I should get some of my sewing projects done for school. Because I was bleeding I called labor and delivery and they  told me to come in.
Here is my birth story as I wrote it about a week later.
"On Friday I was 3 cm and 80% effaced
Contractions came off and on friday and Saturday. Just strong enough to make me uncomfortable and get my hopes up. Then nothing all day Sunday. I was pretty disappointed, and decided he probably wasn't coming for a while. So I went to bed, and woke up around 1 or 1:30 with contractions probably every half hour. Until 5 then they became more regular with a little blood.
Around 6 I started getting pretty uncomfortable and had quiet a bit of blood. I worked on sewing projects until a little before 7 and then went and got warren up. I told him I was having pretty regular contractions and some blood and that the baby would be here before the end of the day. I recommended he get up and he recommended I call and ask about the blood. They told me to go ahead and come in and get checked. I got there and was at a four and 100% effaced. They had me walk for a half hour, then checked again and I was at a. 6. Warren's friend Ben came to help give me a blessing of peace and strength. Then the midwife came to check me and said since I was at a 6 and my blood pressure was up they would keep me. She recommended I get in the jacuzzi tub. I thought it sounded great, I loved being in water during the pregnancy. It always helped me relax. And that was the case again. My blood pressure dropped quiet a bit and I was able to breathe through the contractions til around 1:30 when it was time to check me again. I was still at a six and had become discouraged that I wasn't progressing any faster, I just wanted my baby to get here and it wasn't happening fast enough
I got Nubain, and it distracted from the contractions, but wasn't doing it. They broke my water nice and clear. So I got an epidural to help since they decided to start pitocin. After about an hour I was to an 8. I rested for a while  again and was to a 9 with just a little left, they couldn't tell what direction his head was, so they had me start pushing. They knew he had a huge cone head, and thought it was going to take a while i pushed for an hour then the midwife came in to see how it was going. The baby's heart rate was getting higher so she had me push squatting using a bar for a while. They had a dr come in to see what he thought and he had me push a few times to see if it was doing anything, he said it could be a while and I was exhausted and baby's heart rate was getting more dangerous. He asked for permission to help me out and I thought it was a good idea with how tired I was. So he got the vacuum ready on his head and started pushing. This was the hardest most painful part, about halfway through this the dr said I was about to tear  so he was going to cut but I tore first. That was after 6 or 7 pushes, after that I had about 6 or 7 left. And my baby was on my chest. Warren got to cut the cord. The cord was huge and healthy. The took him from me to try to get him breathing better because he was very grunty. They brought him back for some kangaroo care to see if that would get him breathing better, when it didn't they took him to nicu to give him oxygen. I started crying and warren chose to stay with me while I was stitched up and to help me calm down some because I wanted my baby so bad. About an hour later  they were going to take warren to go see Jonathan when finally they brought him back to us. I got to hold him for a few minutes then she took him to clean him up. After that she helped me up to get to the shower, warren came to help me then they worked on getting us to our recovery room in the mom and baby unit."
He was 7 lbs 10 oz and 20 inches long at 37.5 weeks. So glad I didn't go all the way to 40!
My mom flew in the Wednesday I got out of the hospital to help for a week which was awesome. We also walked at graduation the Friday after he was born. He was born on a Monday. Yeah a little crazy on my part, but with the hormones making me crazy it seemed like a great idea. But it seemed that important so I did it.
Recovery didn't take too long for me, I was doing pretty good by 3 or 4 weeks. The pain meds the first two weeks made me crazy, and I thought I could still do everything. HA!  But we are all still alive and doing well.
Also I'm starting to just ramble, so I will stop here. I will add pictures of Jonathan soon!

Anniversary

For our first anniversary, since it was going to fall on a Sunday, we started celebrating Saturday. It was great, we went out to dinner, and then to a wedding reception. We went home and watched a movie. Then went to bed. I woke up to a dozen beautiful red roses, a card and some very yummy chocolate. I gave him a couple things as well. And then he made me breakfast. He was amazing to me all day. I didn't have to do any cooking, and he just let me relax! I love him!

California

We came to Los Angeles as the second part of our Honeymoon. We went on Tuesday to be on the Price is Right, we were in the audience for the show on October 22! Watch for us. Wednesday was sort of a lazy day. We went out for lunch, then went and took a nap. Woke up hungry, and then went on to the Santa Monica beach and played for a bit, went to Pizza Hut, and then wandered. We bought some fun decoration, souvenirs, and then we played a game and won a huge green pillow crayon!!! We didn't get home til close to midnight, so we went to bed pretty quick. Thursday morning we couldn't decide on what to do, so we packed up the hotel room, loaded the car and drove around a little bit and headed to China Town. All the shops pretty much sell exactly the same things, just keep looking until you find the best price. We had lunch at The Plum Tree Inn. It was an interesting little Chinese restaurant, really good though. Then we headed to Ben and Cortney's new little house. Very cute. We played a couple games of Dominion, and tomorrow morning will fly out to Texas for our 3rd and final reception. It will be good to see my family. We will add pictures soon!

Beginning our life together

We have just been married a week and a day ago and lovin' it. We were married in the Idaho Falls LDS temple on August 14. It was great to have so much family there to support us. It was great to see our friends too. Pretty much the best day of my life! I married my best friend, and now my eternal companion :) I'm looking forward to all that life will bring to us. The ups and downs, the lessons we'll learn, the family we will get to raise. I'm just looking forward to it all.
